for anyone who is interested, my music pick of the week is cloud cult's album: advice from the happy hippopotamus i think it's great and is reminiscent of several bands. if you download the album, please tell me if you disagree with the following "this song sounds like:" comparisons
what comes at the end = built to spill moving to canada = wolf parade start new = wicked awesomeness *12 training wheels = kettle whistle age janes addiction lucky today = joe strummer solo shit
seems like there's at least one more.
i think the dood's voice is fucking great (the little innocent "yep" in transistor radio, etc.) and the style of songs is quite diverse and that any indie rocking loser like myself should have a listen.
ps. the latter half of the album is slightly weaker than the first part, but there are something like 24 songs, so you really can't complain.

blake's new band is coming out with a new album this month. from what ive herad its pretty fucking rocking, ska, punk, and lots of keyboards(keytar?!?!)
"The seemingly prolific Bomb the Music Industry! has posted an update regarding the writing and recording progress of their third album, Clap Your Hands Say Shut the Fuck Up. Vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Jeff Rosenstock posted the following on the band's website:
The NEW Bomb the Music Industry! album is in the process of being written and recorded. It is called CLAP YOUR HANDS SAY SHUT THE FUCK UP. That title was stolen from my friend Sierra. Sorry, Si. It's taking a little while because there's a lot of piano on this one and I have no idea how to play the piano."

i also found that "washed your car" is reminiscent of blind melon. and "car crash" has a very bts descending/ascending riff "daaa duh dun, dun duh daaa"
its pretty good after giving it another listen, a bit of filler though

Well the new band is coming along nicely, I already wrote 6 songs in one hour yesterday or D14RCK. With titles like "Turnpike of Love" and "We love to Fucking Love" I don't think we will be going wrong. Here is a sneak preview at "Rights of Love"
"You have the right to missionary, You have the right to doggie style, You have the newest right that is on the books.....amemdment 69!"
If we can just come up with a name and get some blond wigs and leapord print spandex, we will be ready to rock! TONIGHT! WOOH -MAN! BE GOING TO DOWN TO SEPULVEDA!

so MIKE. i gotta say that upon closer listen (a few times last night), I have become more attached to this Cloud Cult album. I definately feel the first half more than the second half, but it is much better than i initially thought.
good catch old boy.

this is music for jer and blake (or anyone who likes to rock): the new arctic monkeys album: whatever people say i am, that's what i'm not i'm listening to it for the first time as i write this so i can't profess too much love for it, but it sounds pretty farking good. and (JOSH!) all the cool indie kids have good things to say about it, so i'll just go out on a limb and recommend it. because i'm too impatient to wait until i've heard the whole album.
also, man man (who androof likes): six demon bag crazy. listen to black mission goggles or something else that andrew else will suggest once he sees my suggestion and disapproves.
