I've made the plunge back into up-tempo musak! It makes for stokedness and agnoness and other such non-words.
some of the recommended up-tempo stuff would be: arctic monkeys (yes, i am aware that i've already mentioned them, but it's really a good album) FIGURINES: skeleton (fawking great album in my opinion) the islands: ummm, well, this isn't ALL up-tempo, but its quality stuff. i heard about this one guy who was so jaded/unmotivated that he wouldn't even walk down a flight of stairs to see these guys.... can you believe that shit?! ps. they're from campbell river....another vancouver island band. one more thing. they're playing in vancouver on the 9th and people should come up and see them if they're so inclined.

bah! you haven't seen the flight of stairs over here that separates inside from out. it's a bit like david bowie's labrynth, and you have to chain up to make it past the first flight. plus I was holdin out for the belle orchestre this past monday <---- Great show!
i did get a taste of the islands disregard for authority later on after their set though. i was tryin to drift off into slumber when these unruly kids dressed in white, wielding snare drums and fiddles descended on the parking lot next to our building. the crowd from their show had followed em out into the night for an islands led chant, which was more like general ruckus. anyway, they turned car roofs into a stage and were stompin in sunroofs where there weren't any before. then the mother fuckin fuzz showed up and everyone started chanting "fuck the police". so i suppose i DID see the islands play. and if your lookin to incite a riot. look no further than your local venue.

man i heard about that...i think. i read a review about one of the recent islands shows and they were saying that they got everyone to go to the lot across the street to play some pickup basketball.... not exactly riotous behaviour, but certainly odd and entertaining.
sounds like a great place to live mang!

damn guys, i'm trying hard but i can't bring myself to like the stuff you're recommending! and i'm desparately in need of new tunes. you guys listen to joe purdy? www.joepurdy.comdecent stuff. first heard him on lost, they played his song at the end of a first season episode. can you guys recommend anything along these lines? something along the lines of (and i say this knowing the grave risk of sounding very un-hip) jack johnson? iron and wine? myke, you said you made the change to up-tempo music - what did you change FROM?

jack johnson eh bob? hmm. i see. let's do us all a favor and not compare iron & wine to ol' Jacky eh? in fact, if your Uncle Jack was stuck on a horse....
that aside, get the following (chill(er) music):
Sufjan Stevens: Come on Feel the Illinoise Andrew Bird: Mysterious Production of Eggs Amadou & Miriam: Dimanche A Bamako Mirah: C'mon Miracle
